Finding a solid camera bag can be challenging. I’ve had plenty of experience with various bags, so let’s take a look at my top three options!

AmazonBasics DSLR and Laptop backpackAmazonBasics DSLR and Laptop Backpack

Kicking things off is the best bag on the list. The AmazonBasics DSLR and Laptop Backpack has some serious offerings for its $40 price tag. Some of my favorite features include the dedicated laptop pocket, spacious interior with premium dividers, and high-quality straps with chest and waist straps. The build quality is honestly impressive, and I can’t think of a better bag. Even if you could afford a more expensive bag, it’s hard to beat this one!

If you can’t tell by the title, this next backpack is for a drone. Designed for the DJI Phantom series, the bag can carry most small to medium-sized drones. It carries my Phantom 3 Standard, remote, all accessories, and offers room for up to four batteries. Getting everything in the bag is a tight fit, but that’s because it’s specially designed to be carry-on compatible. This fits in the specs of most major airlines (check your airline of choice before flying). I bought it specifically for that reason, as I’ll be flying several times throughout the summer. While the build quality is decent, it’s not quite as premium as the AmazonBasics backpack, and this retails at $120! It’s worth the price for being a drone bag (other options are $100+), but it shows you how truly amazing the AmazonBasics backpack is (which can’t fit a Phantom drone, by the way).

Want something smaller? Maybe you don’t have a plethora of gear to haul around. The Ruggard Commando 36 offers a small, compact solution for your gear. While it isn’t worth it for the retail price of $39.95, you can usually find it for around $20-25 new on eBay. At that price, it’s a steal for a portable solution! The build quality is nice, and I like the “RG” branding throughout the inside of the material. It gives it a “premium” feel that higher end bags also have. I also love how the interior has a nylon feel, more than a soft feel of the other bags. I think the nylon type material holds up better and will last longer. Overall, I would recommend it if you’re looking for a small bag.

If you want the ultimate camera bag, go with the AmazonBasics DSLR and Laptop bag. If you want a high-end, travel-ready bag for your drone, pick up the Polar Pro Drone Trekker backpack. If you are looking for a small and compact solution, you can’t go wrong with the Ruggard Commando 36.
